Gratitude Creates Integrity

“The more you are grateful for what you have, the more you will have to be grateful for.” – Zig Ziglar Turns out this quote is not just a nice saying! A recent podcast episode of Freakonomics Radio, Why is my life so hard?, discussed the relationship between integrity and gratitude and entitlement. What the study revealed is that those who feel entitled and believe that the “world is unfairly against them,” are more likely to make unethical decisions because, after all, the world owes them. On the other hand, those who are grateful for what they have, even if it’s not much, are more likely to make good, sound ethical and moral decisions based on what is right. So, why is Dad’s quote #TRUE? Because a series of right moral and ethical decisions leads to blessings, and poor moral and ethical decisions will eventually lead to consequences. I am sure you have seen this in your own experience! Take, for example, in the workplace. Who is more likely to get the promotion: The one who takes shortcuts and expects others to help them because they have it so hard, or the one who is always grateful for what they have and is willing to help others just because it’s the right thing to do? Yes, gratitude pays! But it pays far more than money. The attitude of gratitude nourishes the soul. You are Born To Win, so go ahead and Live To Win!
